Timber specificities
Timber is a natural product with specific features. It can vary in colour and texture and present darker tints and knots, etc. Therefore, before installing the wood boards, we recommend you choose carefully how to combine and apply different shades in the relevant rooms.
Storage
Our boards are supplied pre-finished with around 10 to 12% humidity (+ 4%). Therefore, we recommend they be stored in a dry and well ventilated place, and never humid. We also advise that the wood be allowed to acclimate for at least one week in the location where it will be installed.
Protection – Moisture and temperature in the residential building
- Large temperature and moisture variation inside the residential building may cause changes in the timber applied, namely splinting and/or considerable swelling, which can result in warping/lifting.
- The advisable room temperature and moisture is 20 to 22 º C and 60 to 75%, respectively. These are the ideal levels for both timber and residents’ health. Therefore controlling these values in order to maintain moisture and temperature balanced is advisable.
